Celebrating Victory!

I know I already sent a newsletter out to you today, but I just have to share one more thing…

10 years ago when NYC was under attack, our grandson, at just 10 years old, experienced first hand the devastation and terror living there.

Shortly after that he was robbed at knife point walking home from school with a lap top someone else thought he should have.

A few years later he moved with his family to England because his dad  secured a pastorate position.  Unfortunately England’s people were not too keen on Americans, and our grandson often felt the brunt of it in his school, getting beat up more than once.

All of this caused a great deal of anguish, worry, and confusion to  this little guy.  He became very uncertain about life, what he could count on, who he could trust.  His faith in God became severely challenged and he fell into rebellion and often anger.

It was sad to see this change, since he was always the sweetest, most affectionate, and generous hearted child.  We wondered where all this would go for him.

But God is good, prayer works wonders, and our daughter’s and son-in-law’s relentless faith bore powerful fruit!

Our grandson did not succumb to hardened bitterness or drug addiction or depression…. instead a love of country, family, and God became a passion and he chose to be one who would stand up, be a force to contend with, and a solution to the problem, rather than one who either shrinks away or just complains.

This week, of all weeks, our grandson will receive the Trident award for completing the most grueling of training to be a Navy SEAL.  He is a mere 20 years old.We are so proud, and so grateful.  As my friend, would you take a moment to pray for him?

There were times we imagined all kinds of things for this young man as we watched him struggle, but we did not imagine he would even think about enlisting in the armed forces, let receive the Trident award!

But this came to mind….

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.  Eph 3:20

May I encourage you to take your biggest fear, worry, or concern and exercise faith in the One who’s power is at work in you?  Let Him do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine.
